MGM Grand is one of three Las Vegas hotels with a lazy river. And to put it simply, the MGM Lazy River is the most popular compared to the lazy rivers at Mandalay Bay and Tahiti Village.

For those looking for an adults-only pool, then you are in luck; the Wet Republic Ultra Pool is the place to be. Read on to learn of the various attraction in the MGM Grand pool complex area, from the lazy river to the bars, restaurants, and pool parties.

MGM Grand Pool Overview

MGM Grand Pool: Lazy River, Cabanas, Hours & Prices (1)

  • Address: MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, 3799 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89109
  • Phone: 702 891 3086
  • Amenities: cabanas, daybeds, pods, lounge chairs, live music, pool volleyball, lawn games, adult-only pool, lazy river, whirlpools, bars, and a restaurant,

MGM Grand pool complex is a collection of pools, a lazy river, and whirlpools that surround more than 6.5 acres in the MGM Grand casino. Four regular swimming pools and three whirlpools act as huge hot tubs in the ample Vegas sun.

The environment is decorated in tropical landscape and greenery, which adds to the serene ambiance you feel the minute you step into the area. Five bars make up the pool complex’s main drink service, and Cabana Grill is the only in-pool restaurant to dine in.

There are more than 25 cabanas to rent fit for families and huge parties, whereas you can opt for the daybeds or pods for smaller groups.

It is important to note that the lazy river is the busiest part of the pool complex. Most guests visit the pool area for the relaxing swirl down the river more than they want to join in on the pool parties and dance to some live music.

If you are looking for a festive party scene, then MGM Grand pool maybe not live up to your standards. On the other hand, if you want the most family-friendly pool affair or just a chill, relaxing stay in the whirlpools, then this is where you want to be.

MGM Grand Pool Complex

The pool complex is located at the back of the hotel at the far end of The District. It may seem like a maze the first time you visit, but you learn to get around pretty quickly, especially when you stick together with your fellow guests.

There are lots of signs that show you the directions to various sites with ease. At the entrance, you will get to see the current pool hours, which are tentative and subject to availability depending on the season, events, and weather.

The Wet Republic Ultra Pool for adults only (21 years plus) is the most popular of the four swimming pools. It is marketed as the hippest and most lively place to be for an exciting pool party with DJ features from the likes of Steve Aoki and Martin Garrix.

It is a 54,500 square feet venue that hosts celebrity events and huge pool parties, especially during the summer. Of this huge space, 6,000 square feet is filled with pool sections for dipping in and swimming while tuning to the eclectic ambiance. Next to it is a 2,500 square feet lounge area with a bar.

The Wet Republic pool opened in early March of 2022 and has been the talk of the town for loud parties between Thursday and Sunday from 11 am.

The MGM Grand main pool is next to the Wet Republic and is open to all ages. There are also two saltwater pools measuring between 2500 and 3500 square feet.

MGM Grand Lazy River

MGM Grand Pool: Lazy River, Cabanas, Hours & Prices (2)

Grand Pool lazy river is smaller than Mandalay Bay lazy river but still vast, covering a total length of 1,000 feet. The Lazy River goes up to 3.5 feet deep, which is substantially low compared to the swimming pools.

The loop meanders through the Grand Pool complex through a series of artificial fixtures like waterfalls, bridges, and the many tropical palm trees at the shores.

If you want an easier way to navigate the pool complex, then the lazy river is the way to go. It passes through multiple areas, including entrance and exit rails from the pool.

Mgm Grand Pool Fees & Amenities

Please do not forget that only MGM Grand hotel guests are allowed into the pool complex. No form of a day pass or entrance fee is charged to non-guests to give them access to the pool. You also can’t get in by booking a cabana or daybed; only hotel guests are allowed to book these spaces.

MGM used to open the pool to public guests but changed the terms & conditions after the pandemic. According to MGM Resorts International, access is limited due to occupancy restrictions to control the number of guests in the area.

Ensure you carry your room key before going to the swimming pool. All keys are checked and verified at the entrance before you get into the complex.

So, is the pool free at MGM Grand? Entrance is free for the guests, but everything else is subject to current rates, including cabanas, daybeds, drinks, food, and swimming equipment.

Beverages are half the price when you book a cabana.

The cabanas are in plenty and divided across the pool according to their location. There are East River cabanas, West River, Island, and Main Pool cabanas. Prices vary from weekday to weekend and special events, but you can typically expect to spend upwards of $300 for the cabanas.

Cabanas come with the following:

  • Private patios

MGM Grand Pool Hours and Season

The pool hours at the MGM Grand complex depend on the pool you are visiting. The entire complex is open every day of the week from 9 am to 5 pm; you are bound to find all the pools open between these hours.

However, the pool complex area does stay open till 6 pm from Monday to Sunday, while the DJ who plays live music at the Producer’s Pool is only available from 12 pm to 5 pm, Friday to Sunday only.

You should time yourself well on the Lazy River Pool. It is open every day of the week but only opens between 10 am and 5 pm.

Another important aspect to consider when considering the MGM Grand pool hours is the food & service. Food & service is only available from 10 am to 5 pm every day of the week. That speaks for all in-pool services and delivery services from other restaurants and stores in the MGM Grand.

The pool season is similar to most pool seasons in Las Vegas hotels. The lazy river is subject to closure on certain special months, but this can change from time to time.

Typically, the lazy river is only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in March and October. It is open from Sunday to Monday every month from April to September.

MGM Grand Pool Rules

MGM Grand Pool: Lazy River, Cabanas, Hours & Prices (4)

Like most pools in Las Vegas, you can only book a space in the MGM Grand pool complex for a select period of time. According to their terms and conditions, any guests who book a space, provided a cabana, daybed, or pod are expected to check in between 9 am and 11 am.

In case of any cancellations or delays, the guest is encouraged to contact the staff by 11 am to inform them of any such changes. Failure to do so will result in the release of the cabana, pod, or daybed at a 100% cancellation charge.

It is also important to remember that no outside foods or alcoholic drinks are allowed at the MGM Grand pool. You also have to enter the pool with circular tubes if you are carrying a refreshing beverage or water. Glass items are not allowed anywhere in the pool section of the hotel.

The management reserves the right to add any prohibited items to its list, but currently, the unpermitted items to MGM Grand pool include glass items, novelty tubes, weapons, fins, coolers, pool toys, flippers, drugs, and hookahs.

Please remember that you cannot exceed the number of guests who occupy your cabana, pod, or daybed. Only ten people can stay/stand in a cabana, four guests for the daybeds and 2 for the pods.

Guests must rent another cabana/pod/daybed if maximum occupancy is exceeded. You also can’t book a specific cabana since the location is subject to availability upon your arrival at the Grand Pool Complex.
